Oregano Gilt Trip #1

Common Name: Ornamental Oregano

Few perennials do more for the garden than ‘Gilt Trip’. A fast growing, bushy plant of chartreuse leaves perfect for use as a filler in the landscape. Lilac flowers appear on mauve calyxes for a long time in summer – much to the delight of visiting bees and butterflies. Similar to Russian Sage, the calyxes hold their color long after the plant has finished flowering. This plant blooms under the heat and stress of summer without missing a beat. Deer and rabbits tend to leave this perennial alone thanks to its aromatic foliage.

Although the leaves have a mild flavor; this variety was selected for its ornamental characteristics and not its culinary properties.
