With summer quickly approaching, now is the time to get outdoors and explore all that the area of Eau Claire has to offer. The city has countless activities for locals and tourists alike to enjoy, whether you are going alone, with friends, or taking along the whole family.

Arts & Entertainment

If you want to learn more about the rich history of the city, consider taking a tour of one of the area’s hotspots. Leinenkugel’s Brewery is perfect for beer lovers, Crystal Caves for outdoor adventurers, Sculpture Tour Eau Claire for art connoisseurs, and the Downtown Eau Claire Food and History Tour for cultured foodies.

For fans of live music, the Sounds Like Summer concert series is a great way to support local artists. Head on over to Phoenix Park every Thursday night from June through August for some entertainment on the water.

From shops to galleries to outdoor displays, the city of Eau Claire is also filled with an abundance of visual art. To take a look at unique pieces from both local and national craftspeople throughout history, check out B-Framed Galleries, Banbury Place’s Mural Art Gallery, Chippewa Valley Museum, or The Local Store.

Sports & Recreation

The convergence of the Eau Claire and Chippewa Rivers in this area provide a beautiful water landscape to admire and explore. The Chippewa River State Trail runs 4.2 miles through the heart of the city and is ideal for a variety of water sports including canoeing, kayaking and tubing. Along the way, you can observe native aquatic plants and animals and learn more about the history of the area while passing several historical markers.

Another great way to spend the day outdoors is on the golf course. This area boasts several premier facilities for beginners, seasoned players, and everyone in between with natural changes in elevation, woods and rivers, and an abundance of wildlife. Go play a round at the first-class Eau Claire Golf & Country Club, the popular Wild Ridge and Mill Run combined courses, or the local-favorite Hickory Hills.

If you are interested in the equestrian scene, horseback riding may be another enjoyable option for you. Check out Wilderness Pursuit Horseback Adventures for a guided trail ride, or Trinity Equestrian for a more therapeutic experience.

Nature & Outdoors

What better way to get in some exercise while admiring nature than exploring local trails? Whether you prefer biking, jogging, skating, or taking a leisurely stroll, the city of Eau Claire contains over 30 miles of trails for you to traverse. In addition to the aforementioned Chippewa River State Trail, you may also choose to start on the Buffalo River State Trail or Old Abe State Trail when you begin your journey.

Similarly, the area also boasts several nature parks such as Carson Park, Boyd Park, Phoenix Park, and Tower Ridge Recreational Area, each offering ample space for a variety of activities such as hiking, fishing, disc golfing, picnicking, or even just running around the playground.

As a city proud of its rich agricultural industry, Eau Claire is home to many sources of locally-grown foods, which means there are plenty of options for everyone to enjoy. You can pick some fruit from an orchard like Ferguson’s, eat the freshest meals from farms such as Farm to Fork Retreat or Together Farms, grab produce from local vendors at the Eau Claire Farmers Market, or enjoy a glass (or two!) of wine straight from the source at a winery such as Autumn Harvest or Infinity Beverages Winery and Distillery.
