When it comes to TV cartoon duos, you’re probably familiar with the “big/little” trope. We’ve rounded up six of the most iconic animated pairings inspired by our very own tall/small duo, John and Jessi Kelly.
While walking around our greenhouse, you may spot an interesting duo: a big, tall goofy guy and a smart-looking smaller gal. That’s John and Jessi Kelly, owners of Chippewa Valley Growers. In spite of their significant height difference, they still make a great team. It made us think of some other classic tall/small pairings from our favorite cartoons.
Tom and Jerry
While these two have a tumultuous relationship, Tom and Jerry’s claim to fame lies in the way they live their lives together. These well-known cat and mouse adversaries have some pretty wacky adventures, but still manage to coexist in their own special way.
Snoopy and Woodstock
Arguably the two most loyal friends in the Peanuts universe, Snoopy and Woodstock weren’t always close. Initially, the beloved beagle was annoyed by having to take care of the little orphaned bird, but they eventually formed a tight bond that lasted a lifetime.
Curious George and The Man in the Yellow Hat
While on a safari mission in Africa, The Man in the Yellow Hat (AKA Ted) spots a curious little monkey and decides to bring him back home with him to “the city.” After a short stint in the zoo, it’s decided that George is better suited to live with The Man. Thus begins a sweet interspecies father-son relationship.
Winnie the Pooh and Piglet
It’s hard to find a friendship more pure and loving than Piglet and Pooh, who would seemingly do anything for each other. Pooh is not bothered by Piglet’s endless worrying, and Piglet is always supportive of Pooh, no matter how silly his ideas are.
Calvin and Hobbes
Every creative kid needs a trusty sidekick. And, while Hobbes appears as a stuffed animal to others, he is very real to six-year-old Calvin. The pair takes imaginative ideas to levels unseen and enjoys all of life’s exciting adventures together.
Yogi Bear and Boo Boo Bear
The best friends in Jellystone Park, Yogi and Boo Boo are practically inseparable. While Yogi is constantly thinking of wild ideas, Boo Boo tries (often unsuccessfully) to keep the duo from getting in trouble with the park ranger.
